The London Myriad Ensemble
Since its conception as a professional chamber group in 2004, this talented ensemble has given concerts internationally, playing works by composers from Mozart to Chick Corea. The London Myriad Ensemble performs principally as a wind quintet whose members share a passion for chamber music alongside a wealth of experience within the profession. Individual members have worked with major ensembles and eminent musicians in the UK, Europe and Africa. Their collective experience of classical, jazz and contemporary music enables them to perform across a wide musical spectrum and to programme exciting and diverse concerts.
Notable venues such as St. Martin-in-the-Fields and the residence of the British High Commissioner to the Seychelles have been host to London Myriad Ensemble recitals. Their audience, however, is not limited to those at concert performances. As experienced instrumental teachers, the ensemble has made a commitment to extend access to their music. Education work has led to many workshops and masterclasses at primary and secondary school level. They recently embarked on a long-term project with the Concordia Foundation and will be visiting schools across the country alongside artists and actors with their 'Young Audiences' concerts.
The London Myriad Ensemble was quintet in residence, on a full scholarship at the Dartington International Summer School in 2005, and at the Seychelles International Festival of Classical Music 2006. They were then invited to the Beauville Arts Wind Chamber week in south-west France supported by an 'Awards for Ensembles' grant from the Musicians Benevolent Fund and a generous donation from the Tillett Trust.
The group give regular recitals in and around London and are currently embarking on a project for a joint commission of a concerto for wind quintet and orchestra by composer Benjamin Ellin.
